DHS Hospitality Academy, in collaboration with the Asia Hospitality Human Resources Association (AHHRA), today announced the launch of a Fully Sponsored Hospitality Diploma Programme in Singapore, offering Malaysian youth a powerful pathway into a global, fast-growing, and resilient industry. Originally launched in October 2025 through a joint initiative between DHS Hospitality Academy and Persatuan Amal Uncle Kentang, the programme reflects a strong commitment to developing local talent through practical, industry-driven education. Designed for students who have completed SPM or UEC, the 15-month Earn & Learn Work-Study Programme combines structured academic learning with immersive, hands-on industry experience. Participants gain real-world exposure in international hospitality environments while building practical, job-ready skills. What sets this programme apart is its fully sponsored model, which removes the financial barriers typically associated with overseas education. Sponsored by hospitality establishments in Singapore, participants receive:
- SGD 600 monthly allowance
- SGD 400 additional living allowance
- Daily duty meals
- Airfare coverage from Kuala Lumpur and major Malaysian cities
This “earn while you learn” approach allows students to gain international experience without placing financial strain on their families. The Diploma offered is approved by the Singapore Ministry of Education, the programme places participants directly into the hospitality and service sectors, where they develop competencies in:
- Customer service excellence
- Hospitality operations
- Communication and human engagement
Singapore’s position as a global hub for tourism and business ensures exposure to world-class service standards and diverse, multicultural working environments.
DHS Hospitality Academy continues to stand out as a leader in hospitality training and international mobility programmes through:
- Proven Track Record: Over 3,900 students successfully trained through the Singapore Attachment Programme since 2016
- Strong Industry Partnerships: Direct collaboration with established hospitality employers
- Hands-On Learning Approach: Emphasis on practical, real-world training over purely classroom-based education
- Student-Centric Support: Continuous mentorship and career guidance
- Global Career Pathways: Enhanced employability across international markets

According to Dr. S. Sri Kumar, President of the Asia Hospitality Human Resources Association, the programme adopts a pragmatic and competency-driven approach, ensuring that participants not only gain exposure but also develop the right skills required by the industry.
Malaysia is currently facing a critical challenge in attracting and retaining youth in the hospitality sector. Despite thousands graduating with diplomas and degrees in hospitality-related fields each year, only about 10% enter the industry.
This gap is largely due to:
- Lack of real industry exposure during studies
- Mismatch between academic training and employer expectations
- Perceptions of limited career growth
- Preference for other industries offering immediate financial returns
The DHS programme directly addresses these challenges through its hands-on “Learn & Earn” model, where students are immersed in actual work environments from the start. Instead of learning theory alone, participants develop confidence, adaptability, and practical competence—qualities highly valued by employers.
By integrating education with real employment, the programme not only builds skills but also reshapes perceptions of the hospitality industry as a viable, rewarding, and global career choice. Beyond technical training, the programme transforms lives—offering financial independence, international exposure, and long-term career opportunities. With only 70 fully sponsored placements available, this highly competitive programme offers successful applicants a significant advantage in the global job market.
