DHS Hospitality Academy conducted the DHS AOHD Hospitality Career Program engagement session with 35 AOHD Church members, introducing new opportunities for Malaysian youths to build meaningful careers within the hospitality industry through the DHS Talent Spark Programme and DHS Talent Rise Programme. The session brought together participants representing AOHD communities from Kuala Lumpur Central, Kuala Lumpur North, Kuala Lumpur South, Northwest Kuala Lumpur, Petaling District, Klang District, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Terengganu. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of DHS Hospitality Academy and AOHD in supporting youth empowerment, skills development, and creating sustainable employment pathways for communities.

The Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD) is the official charity and social welfare arm of the Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. With more than 30 years of service, AOHD focuses on promoting charity, integral human development, justice, and peace, with particular attention towards supporting the vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalised communities. AOHD operates through various ministries and community initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals and families while encouraging participation, dignity, and social responsibility. Its work includes supporting communities through human development programs, outreach initiatives, and collaborations with organisations that share the same commitment towards creating a more inclusive society.

Through its Parish Integral Human Development Ministry (PIHDM) network, AOHD works closely with parishes and communities across the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur to identify needs, develop programs, and create opportunities that contribute towards holistic human development. The collaboration between AOHD and DHS Hospitality Academy represents a meaningful partnership in providing Malaysian youths with access to skills training, career guidance, and employment opportunities.

The Talent Spark Programme is designed to introduce Malaysian youths to the exciting opportunities available within the hospitality industry. Many young people today face challenges in identifying career direction and gaining access to practical workplace exposure. Talent Spark provides an opportunity for participants to discover their strengths, understand industry expectations, and develop the foundation required for a successful hospitality career. The programme focuses on:

  • Introduction to the hospitality industry.
  • Career awareness and guidance.
  • Communication and customer service skills.
  • Personal development and confidence building.
  • Workplace professionalism. Exposure to hospitality career opportunities.

Talent Spark acts as the first step in transforming potential into purpose by helping youths discover their abilities and prepare for future employment.

The Talent Rise Programme is designed to further develop youths who are ready to strengthen their skills and prepare themselves for employment within the hospitality industry. Through structured training, career coaching, industry exposure, and employment preparation, participants are equipped with the practical knowledge and professional competencies required by hospitality employers. The programme focuses on:

  • Hospitality operational skills.
  • Service excellence.
  • Workplace communication.
  • Teamwork and leadership development.
  • Career preparation and interview readiness.
  • Industry expectations and professional standards.

Talent Rise aims to produce confident, skilled, and employment-ready hospitality professionals who can contribute positively to Malaysia’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.

A significant feature of the DHS AOHD Hospitality Career Program is that both the Talent Spark Programme and Talent Rise Programme are fully sponsored through industry support, allowing deserving Malaysian youths to access quality training and career development opportunities without financial barriers. This sponsorship initiative demonstrates the commitment of DHS Hospitality Academy and industry partners in developing future hospitality talent, especially among youths from underserved communities and those seeking meaningful career opportunities. By removing financial limitations, the programme creates equal access for youths to gain valuable skills, professional confidence, and a pathway towards employment. The DHS AOHD Hospitality Career Program is developed with clear objectives:

  • Reduce youth unemployment.
  • Improve employability among Malaysian youths.
  • Develop hospitality competencies.
  • Build professional confidence.
  • Support B40 and underserved communities.
  • Empower women and youth through skills development.
  • Create sustainable career opportunities.
  • Support the hospitality industry’s workforce requirements.

DHS Hospitality Academy believes that education and training should lead to real opportunities. Through the collaboration with AOHD, the Talent Spark and Talent Rise Programs provide Malaysian youths with more than skills—they provide confidence, direction, and a pathway towards a brighter future. Together, DHS Hospitality Academy and AOHD are committed to empowering communities, strengthening employability, and developing the next generation of Malaysian hospitality professionals.
