A significant milestone in regional hospitality development was achieved today as the BRICS ASEAN Chamber of Commerce formalized its collaboration with DHS Hospitality Academy to expand and strengthen hospitality education and professional development initiatives. The initiative was made possible following a strategic meeting between Thayalan Nathan, President of the BRICS ASEAN Chamber of Commerce, and Dr S. Sri Kumar, Founder and Group Director of DHS Hospitality Academy. During the discussion, BRICS ASEAN representatives were comprehensively briefed on DHS’s achievements over the past decade. For more than 10 years, DHS has been at the forefront of hospitality education, offering over 600 programs through its extensive learning hubs across Malaysia. These initiatives include specialized hospitality certifications, leadership development courses, industry seminars, conventions, and structured placement programs designed to strengthen workforce readiness and elevate service standards across the hospitality sector.

Establishment of Regional Excellence Platforms

As part of this strategic collaboration, two major platforms will be established:

  • BRICS ASEAN Center for Hospitality Excellence and BRICS ASEAN Leadership Forum

These platforms aim to create a unified ecosystem for hospitality innovation, leadership development, research, and cross-border industry collaboration among BRICS nations. The collaboration is expected to generate far-reaching impact across BRICS member countries by:

  • Enhancing professional standards and service quality in hospitality and tourism.
  • Developing skilled talent pipelines to meet increasing tourism demands.
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange and best practices among industry leaders.
  • Strengthening regional economic growth through tourism-driven employment.
  • Supporting SMEs and hospitality entrepreneurs with structured training and certification programs.

As global travel and tourism continue to rebound and expand, the need for structured, industry-aligned education becomes increasingly critical. DHS programs are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world operational excellence. Through practical training, leadership development, and direct placement pathways, DHS equips professionals with the competencies required to compete in international hospitality markets. This collaboration signals a transformative step toward positioning BRICS nations as leaders in global hospitality excellence. By combining the BRICS ASEAN Chamber’s expansive business network with DHS’s proven educational framework, the partnership aims to drive innovation, raise service benchmarks, and create sustainable career pathways within the hospitality industry. The initiative marks the beginning of a long-term strategic alliance that will not only strengthen hospitality ecosystems within Malaysia but also contribute meaningfully to workforce development, economic resilience, and tourism growth across BRICS nations.
